In our busy lives, sometimes we need an excuse to get away with our significant other for a few days and what’s a better time than Valentine’s Day?! These destinations are sure to bring out the love and romance on your Valentine’s Day getaway.
1. Charleston, SC
Any city with history and charm is the perfect city for couples. And Charleston? Charleston is filled with history, beauty, elegance, and charm. Start off by staying at the Inn at Middleton Place. It’s nestled back in the tranquil woods about thirty minutes outside of the city. Truly the perfect escape. And of course a private carriage tour of downtown Charleston followed by dinner at Vincent Chicco’s makes for the perfect date night!
2. Asheville, NC
What could be more romantic than the beautiful views of the Great Smokey Mountains? There’s nothing like a day touring the Biltmore Estate and/or driving around taking in the mountain scenery while looking for waterfalls followed by a couples massage at the spa at the Omni Grove Park Inn and finally having a sunset dinner at their Sunset Terrace restaurant. The Omni Grove Park Inn is my top place to stay in Asheville! Of course renting a mountain cabin is also a great option. Be sure to check out the French Broad Chocolate Factory as well. I mean it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without Chocolate.
3. Martha’s Vineyard
Martha’s Vineyard is a little island off the coast of Cape Cod. It is absolutely beautiful. And there is so much for couples to do! Start with a stay at the Winnetu Oceanside Resort which has beautiful views of the ocean. You won’t even want to leave the room. When you decide to venture out, however, you can walk through the gingerbread cottages, tour an oyster farm, or spend some time with Aplaca’s at Island Alpca, the Vineyard’s only alpaca farm. You can follow that with dinner at the Wharf or the delicious restaurant right on the property of the Winnetu.
4. Newport, RI
Newport is the sailing capital of the world and nothing is more romantic than a sunset sail while sipping on champagne. You can even take your own sailing lesson with On Watch Sailing. In addition, you can also enjoy a nice walk down Cliff Walk which has great views of the beach! And of course, you have to walk through the famous Newport Mansions.
5. Vail, Co
If you would like to go a little farther west, Vail, Colorado is perfect. Vail is it’s own little town within the Rockies. Perfect for skiing, or wrapping up by a fire and sipping on hot chocolate with the one you love. Vail is probably my favorite place out west. The town is known for skiing, and if you are a skier, why not take a mountain tour of Vail Mountain via skis. Or you could also spend the day racing down the slopes followed by a relaxing couples massage. If you are not into skiing, the spa is still a great option as well as sight seeing. Vail has many beautiful lakes for you to discover.
